Jamie Carragher's son James scored his first professional goal for Wigan on Saturday and is already close to beating his dad's tally.

James Carragher scored the opener for Wigan in a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers in League One. The strike is a landmark for the 22-year-old as it's the first of his professional career, although he will be hoping for more before he finally hangs up his boots.

Carragher's goal also puts him just three behind his famous dad's tally for his entire career. The former defender enjoyed a long career at Liverpool, winning FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League titles, but wasn't known for his goalscoring exploits. Indeed Carragher scored just four goals in over 500 appearances for club and country.
