After a rocky debut season, hopes were high that he would settle into his role in his second year. Instead, many of the same problems have persisted, with errors in key matches further damaging his reputation.

Even during United's 1-0 loss to Spurs in the Europa League final, Onana could have done better to stop Brennan Johnson's fortuitous strike from trickling inside the net. However, the goalkeeper was caught flat-footed, leaving many to question whether Onana is truly the right fit for a club of United’s stature.
WHAT ONANA'S BROTHER SAID
In the wake of the latest disappointment, Christian Onana, Andre’s brother, has come forward to publicly back the United No.1. Speaking to media outlet , Christian insisted that one bad night does not diminish Andre’s standing in the game.
“It doesn’t change his status as a great player. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and what’s more, he’s an Indomitable Lion. A lion can slip, but he never falls,” he said.
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR ONANA?
Onana signed a five-year contract upon joining the club and is committed to Old Trafford until at least the summer of 2028. United’s failure to secure Champions League qualification has only intensified the pressure on underperforming players, and Onana’s costly errors have not helped his case. United are preparing for their final Premier League fixture of the season against a determined Aston Villa side at Old Trafford on Sunday, and Onana will hope to make this opportunity count to silence some of his critics.
