According to a report in the Sunday Mirror, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to make Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, who earns €150,000 (around £130,000) according to Total Sportek, his marquee signing this summer, and Man United fans have been quick to react to the rumour.
The Sunday Mirror says that the Portuguese boss wants a new-look midfield for next season, and the addition of the Italy international alongside Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred would certainly achieve that aim, and potentially leave the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic sweating on their places in the starting XI.
It certainly won’t be an easy task to prise Verratti away from the Parc des Princes seeing as he is such an important player for the Ligue 1 giants, and because he is something of a complete midfielder due to his ability from both a defensive and offensive point of view from the centre of the pitch.
Man United supporters, who have delivered their verdict on a potential move for a 23-year-old winger with one describing him as “worse than Rashford”, took to social media to give their thoughts on the link, and while one simply said “I’d sacrifice Pogba”, another said “he’s twice the player Pogba will ever be”.
