As reported by The Daily Mirror, Kasper Schmeichel’s fairy tale move to Manchester United is edging closer to reality with Real Madrid preparing for their big money move for David De Gea.

Schmeichel is a name that is legendary around Old Trafford given Kasper’s father Peter becoming a legend there in the 1990s and it seems as if he could be about to follow in his father’s footsteps.
That’s according to The Daily Mirror anyway, who say the likelihood of him making the switch to Manchester is increasing with Real Madrid preparing a bid for the current United number one and Gianluigi Donnarumma signing a new contract at AC Milan.
The paper say Jose Mourinho is considering his options for the position. However, he won’t come cheap with Leicester City rating him at £30m, according to the report.

The romance surrounding this deal will make it one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer if it comes off and that alone could make him an instant fan favourite at Old Trafford. It’s important fans are happy with the popular De Gea’s replacement with many supporters feeling the club should resist all attempts from Real Madrid to sign the Spaniard.
On his own merits Kasper Schmeichel has proven he is more than capable of being an effective goalkeeper for Manchester United with his sparkling performances for Leicester City a key part of their incredible rise over the last few years.
As replacements for De Gea go, the club could do a lot worse.
