Inconsistency has most definitely been the biggest issue for Nottingham Forest this season and it appears that their play-off dreams are slowly evading their reach. Hugely frustrating, right?
Indeed, it will be disappointing to see Forest fall short of their ambition once again having spent excessively in the summer but in truth, they just haven’t been consistent enough to warrant a place within the top six. For all the talent they have in their squad, the Championship is a long, hard season which means that a team must be at their best all the time, in order to gain promotion.
Nottingham Forest know they must improve their squad over the summer if they want to make their highly-anticipated return into the top flight.
When improving a squad, usually teams will spend millions doing so but what if Forest had a youngster that could save them all the hassle? Step forward, Arvin Appiah.
Appiah has played just one minute in the Championship all season and for all the promise that the youngster has, that is rather insulting.
Martin O’Neill must be set to look for a winger during the transfer window but with Appiah already at the City Ground, their solution may be a lot closer to home than they realise. Of course, after witnessing Ryan Yates’ rise to stardom in the current campaign, perhaps Appiah can follow in his footsteps by becoming the next youngster to take the City Ground by storm.
The jet-heeled 18-year-old has shown what he is capable of in the six minutes he played against Burton in the EFL Cup, where he scored a goal in his brief cameo.
As an England youth international, Appiah has the ability and if nurtured probably, will save Nottingham Forest plenty of time and more importantly money they can then invest in other positions.
