As the summer of 2012 rapidly approaches, the focus switches slightly from domestic football to the national side, who will be aiming to impress in Poland and Ukraine. Although there are many dead-certs for the squad, with a new manager sure to be in place there could be a few surprises.
Experienced stars such as Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney will almost certainly on the plane ahead of the Championships, but with doubts surrounding the national futures of players such as Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and John Terry, it could be time to start looking at long-term replacements for this competition, and beyond.
