Some horrific injuries have put an end to players careers there and then and some have left mental scars so deep that players have never been the same on a football pitch. There have been some harrowing tales of players never being the same after horrific injuries, but we shouldn’t forget the niggling less dramatic injuries that have cost very good players their lively hoods. After Owen Hargreaves limped out of Manchester United’s 2-1 win at home to Wolves on Saturday, we highlight 10 players whose careers have been ended completely or have taken a down wood trajectory after injury. This list is in no order, it only highlights the damage that some players have been subjected to.
